Legal Interference
The NFL Owners are meeting this week and discussing possible rule changes. One possibility, brought up by the Kansas City Chiefs, is to make 15 yards the maximum penalty for defensive pass interference. As it currently stands, it doesn't seem right field position sometimes shifts almost fifty yards because of a ticky-tack flag. Then again, with only a fifteen yard max penalty, all the cornerbacks would play Hack-A-Shaq on the receivers.
Personally, I would like there to be two versions of the pass interference call. One would be for small amounts of illegal contact down the field and only be penalized ten or fifteen yards. But if it's a blatant amount of interference, place the ball at the spot of the foul.
Woody!
