The Playmaker Misses The Cut?
The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced it's 2005 class this weekend. Dan Marino was a no-brainer, Steve Young was for sure, but Michael Irvin was denied. "Don't you know who I am?!" Apparently, they do.
I wonder what cost him going in on the first ballot. I think he has the numbers to go in and he was one of the more dominant receivers of the 1990s. Was it because of his off-the-field problems? If so, was he really worse off than Lawrence Taylor? Is it because there is a vendetta against Cowboys? Despite their great history, only a handful of Cowboys are in Canton. Or maybe the voters are punishing Michael for his awful studio performance on NFL Countdown.
On a more bloggy note, I'd like to welcome Maderer who chimed in for the first time Friday. I agree with Nagel about the Browns, it was a very smart decision to wait for a play-off caliber coach to become available. Unfortunately, as a Bengals fan, I don't look forward to playing him twice a year.
Big game today, huh? Let's hope the Super Bowl ain't a blowout.
